Poetry: It’s Not Just for Poets

Don’t think you’re a poet? Convinced you’re not sensitive, angsty, or intellectually snobbish enough to write a sonnet? Think again. Bring your beret! Don your sunglasses! We’re out to conquer metrophobia (look it up, wordsmiths!) by making fun of all those clichés about suffering poets. We’ll talk about poetry as a fun and useful tool for writers who want to deepen characters and scenes, enrich their language, find new inspiration for free writes, or jump-start revision via scansion. And yes, you’ll leave this session with an original poem in hand, so bring pencil or pen and paper – no keyboards, please!
