Something happens when you read a book. As you step into someone else’s life, your perspective broadens. So does your heart. You come out of a good story a lot larger of spirit than you went in.
Which is why I’ve been writing and reading short fiction, poems, novels and nonfiction my entire professional life. It’s why I’m a founding faculty member of the Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA Program in Writing for Children and Young Adults. As an author, I’ve been privileged to write books for both children and adults, and as a teacher, I’ve had the heady thrill of playing midwife to some of the finest new children’s authors in the country. Could anyone be luckier?
